Binge-able.
Scroll-able.
Memor-able.
We know how serious you take your education.
But that doesn't mean you can't have fun while studying.
We're building a library of lessons that will help you ace your psych exams.
Understand abstract concepts in a visually entertaining way.
And most importantly, you'll remember them come test day.
Once you see these videos, you can't unsee them. (also PDFs and audio)
See below for slides/gallery/comic version.
I absolutely love the stick figures, it keeps it so focused on the story and meaning at hand. Great idea!
I used your Piaget vs Vygotsky video while teaching about their theories in one of my early Childhood classes.
Psychology and comic? Here I come!
This is so innovative!! I really liked this and actually learnt something new today. I'd love to see more of these!
I learnt more from this than the studies themself.
Sometimes you need visuals that simplify the textbook definition, to ever
be able to understand the lengthy textbook reading.
We want more!
I agree that a heap of developmental psych students would benefit from watching these.
I would have loved if my professors showed me videos like these before having us read multiple articles on Piaget and Vygotsky.
Early Praise
Swipers:
Psychologists Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky discuss their different methods of learning. As kids. On the playground.
The Pygmalion Experiment. The effect refers to situations where high expectations lead to improved performance and low expectations lead to worsened performance.
The London Taxi Cab Experiment.
Complex spatial memory causes some parts of the brain to grow while other parts will shrink. The London Taxi cab experiment started in 2000 but was revisited a decade later. Here's a visual summary reimagined as a scene at a bar. Enjoy!
Theories, Hypothesis, Bias, and more. A know it all study partner explains the differences.
Statistical Significance.
Knowledge Dog makes some friends! A basic definition of what can cause a study to have statistical significance. There's still a lot of questions about the controls of this FICTIONAL study about rats snack preferences, but you'll get the gist. Stay skeptical on all studies that claim 'statistical significance.'
Metacognition. Control your thinking.
ABOUT:
Tom holds a BFA in Illustration from Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Fl. He spent the first decade of his career at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He loathes writing in third person so he’ll keep this short.
Tom combines his illustration and animation skills to tell stories from the rat race of life. Currently, he's working on a new series called 'Reality Slaps' that emerge from the dark shadows of his mind. Some are funny, some are sad - but all are true and come directly from the Muse.
